***Shirasaya ZW katana J Lee
John Lee
John Lee Shirasaya Katana black
As Shirasaya refers to a special sword mount, consisting of sheath and handle, which was formerly used for the gentle keeping the blade. Especially in times of peace, it was possible to store swords easy. The unpainted wood Magnolia picked up the moisture inside, led them to the outside and thus protect the blade from rusting further. Many Shirasaya were provided with a "Sayagaki", an inscription, which gave information on Smith, origin and classification of the sword. On the streets of Japan took the understated outfit without classical handle and guard, especially in the late 19th Century use. At that time, by the Emperor personally wearing Samurai swords banned. The Shirasaya mount, which looked very much like a wooden sword was a clever way to wield the sword still unnoticed.

The swords of common soldiers were mostly produced industrially and thus of simple Quality.
